Fishing

Okoroire is steeped in NZ fishing history. The first release of Rainbow Trout in the wild occurred in the Waihou River at the back of the hotel property around 1889. The Waikato and bordering Bay of Plenty regions are enmeshed with major river systems, dams, hydro lakes and hundreds of tributaries. These include the mighty Waikato river system and it's hydro lakes, the Waihou river system, the Kaituna, McClaren Falls lake and many others......

Manager Hugh Rhodes is an avid trout fisherman and with his knowledge and a little bit of luck you too could be catching some of New Zealand's magnificent brown and rainbow trout
