Hot Springs

The Okoroire Hot Springs are perched among the ferns and glow worms on the banks of the Waihou River, 3-4 minutes walk from the hotel. The pools are private and can be hired by the hour.

The pools are very old and were in existence long before the hotel was built. In 1808, on the day of his coronation, the famous Maori Chief, Waikato Tairea O Ko Huiarau was anointed with water from the sacred spring Okoroire. Pool four is referred to as the 'Fairy Pool' and at night its banks are dotted with glow worms. This pool provides a tranquil setting and a relaxing way to unwind after a day on the hotel's golf course. The pools have been used for their health benefits since before the hotel was built and are said to cure all types of aches and bruises..
